Site Safety Plus (SSP) courses are designed to give everyone, from operative to senior manager, the skills they need to progress through the industry.

Courses range from the one-day Health and Safety Awareness course, two-day Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme to the five-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme. There are also refresher courses to make sure that workers are keeping up with the latest practices and techniques to be safe on the job. Our courses ensure everyone benefits from the best possible training.

Health & Safety Awareness (HSA) Overview:

This course highlights potential hazards when working on site and provides practical advice on keeping yourself and your colleagues safe. It covers your individual and employer’s responsibilities, including what you can do if you think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.

At the end of the course you will have an understanding of:

  • the need to prevent accidents

  • health and safety law

  • how your role fits into the control and management of the site

  • risk assessments and method statements

  • performing safely and asking for advice

  • how to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident

Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) Overview:

This Course provides an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues. It highlights legal responsibilities and the need to promote health and safety to supervise effectively.

At the end of the course you will have an understanding of:

  • health and safety law and how it applies to supervisors                                                                        

  • your supervisory responsibilities in controlling site safely

  • risk assessments and the need for method statements

  • effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings

  • monitoring site activities effectively

  • timely intervention when bad practice is identified

Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS):

  • This SMSTS course is for project managers, site managers and supervisors, business owners and clients.

  • You will gain an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues on construction sites.

  • CITB renewable 5 year Site Safety Plus certificate.

Conditions:

  • The certificate is valid for 5 years. You will need to take the SMSTS Refresher course before your certificate expires 

  • You need to renew this certificate every five years before it expires by attending the SMSTS Refresher course. Otherwise, you'll need to take the full SMSTS course again. 

  • To gain the Site Safety Plus certificate you must attend the full 37.5 hours of training. If you can’t attend the full course, you'll need to enrol and take the course again. You may be charged extra to cover the costs of switching courses. You will also need to pass the exam and take part in the course exercises. 

CITB SEATS Course Detail:

 The CITB SEATS training course will provide delegates with an introduction to environmental issues on construction sites and has been designed to provide the basic environmental knowledge that sub-contractors are required to know and demonstrate to major contractors.

Delegates will also be trained to identify both the environmental impacts of their work and improvement opportunities, as well as how to control and minimise their impact on the environment.

This CITB course includes the following elements:

  • The significance and importance of the environment.

  • A basic understanding of Environmental Management Systems.

  • Site waste management. 

  • Prevention of pollution and water management. 

  • Use of energy and resources. 

  • Being a responsible contractor and a good neighbour – including statutory nuisance, communications, archaeology and heritage.

The SEATS course is delivered through classroom-based tutorials and case studies or Online Remote Delivery. Candidates must attend in full. The final part will include a multiple-choice test.

CITB TWSTC Course Details:

The CITB Temporary Works Supervisor course is intended to train delegates to understand the need for  (and duties of) a Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) and the overall management context within which it sits. Emphasis is given to the 4C’s - Communication, Co-ordination, Co-operation and Competency as well as a detailed knowledge and understanding of BS5975 in respect of this role.

This course is assessed by delegates undertaking a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the training day. Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a certificate accredited by the CITB which is valid for five years.
This CITB course includes the following elements:

  • The need and duties of a Temporary Works Supervisor

  • The roles of others within temporary works

  • BS5975 (Code of practice for temporary works procedures and the permissible stress design of falsework) in respect to the role of a TWS

  • Understanding of the 4C’s

The TWSTC course is delivered through classroom-based training and includes a multiple-choice test.

Course Delivery: Classroom Based or Delivered Remotely.

CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Course Details:

This two-day CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Training Course (TWCTC) is aimed at those who have responsibility on site for managing all forms of temporary works; This includes site or project managers, senior management and those working with contractors.

Candidates must attend both days and upon successful completion of the course will receive a Temporary Works Coordinator qualification certificate accredited by the CITB. This is valid for 5 years.

Delegates must have previous experience of temporary works to be eligible for this Temporary Works Coordinator course. 

The Temporary Works Coordinator course will enable delegates to understand the needs and duties of a Temporary Works Co-ordinator and will also give them both an overview of Temporary Works and in depth understanding of BS5975 (Code of practice for temporary works procedures and the permissible stress design of falsework).

This CITB course includes the following elements:

  • The importance of the 4 C’s - Communication, Co-ordination, Co-operation and Competency

  • The role of others on a construction site

  • Risk assessments

  • Method statements

  • Management of the temporary works process

  • Statutory aspects of temporary works

Delegates will be assessed throughout the day through group works, practical exercises and will be required to successfully pass a multiple-choice question paper.
